ABOUT THE SITE
Healthy Earth, Healthy Families was born out of a desire to educate both practitioners and patients on the effects of environmental toxins on our health—particularly on reproduction and fetal development. While there is an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting the negative effects of chemicals on our health, there is a hesitancy to educate patients about these deleterious effects. Healthy Earth, Healthy Families aims to equip providers—particularly obstetricians, gynecologists, midwives, women's health primary care providers and pediatricians—with information and tools for incorporating environmental health into practice. Furthermore, resources targeted to patients directly, allows individuals to make meaningful changes reducing their exposure to harmful toxins, even if their practitioners are not environmental health into routine care.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Elizabeth Winter, ND, MSM has a passion for incorporating environmental medicine into routine primary care. As a result of her training as both a naturopathic doctor and a midwife, she has come to believe that primary care medicine is the ideal venue for educating patients about ways to reduce exposures to the chemicals we are unwillingly, and often unknowingly, exposed to in the environment. Her goal is not to instill fear or anxiety in patients but rather to equip them with tools that allow patients to make meaningful and lasting changes that promote their health and well-being.
Dr. Winter sees patients in person in San Diego, CA and also from a distance via Skype. For more information on her and her practice, visit www.drelizabethwinter.com.
